The Challenge
Building a social video platform that competes with established players requires solving three core challenges: ultra-low latency video delivery across global regions, a recommendation engine that drives engagement without creating echo chambers, and a creator monetization model that is transparent and instant. Traditional video platforms take 2-3 seconds to start playback on slower connections, causing 53% of users to abandon within the first 5 seconds. Additionally, creators on other platforms receive payouts on 30-60 day cycles with opaque revenue sharing calculations.

Our Solution
We built a React Native app optimizing native video player modules. We integrated AWS CloudFront CDN for global low-latency video delivery, FFmpeg for client-side processing, and custom wallet APIs for creator tipping.
Our Approach
We designed VibeStream with a media-first architecture. Video uploads are processed using FFmpeg on the client side for initial trimming and filtering, then uploaded in chunks to AWS S3 with CloudFront CDN distribution. The recommendation engine uses a hybrid approach combining collaborative filtering with interest graph analysis to surface diverse content. For monetization, we built a dual-wallet system supporting both fiat (Stripe) and cryptocurrency (Solana) payouts with instant settlement for creators. The live streaming stack uses WebRTC with a custom SFU (Selective Forwarding Unit) for scalable real-time broadcasting.
